The ONLINE experience: Tanya simulates a studio teaching environment. Classes are conducted in real time, full of live demonstrations and direct instruction. Classes sizes are kept at 10 students to enable individual attention and critique. Classes are conducted via zoom and we simultaneously use Padlet, an educational platform, for sharing class content and images.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of watercolour painting. In these structured classes, Tanya teaches a full range of watercolour painting techniques both past and contemporary. Students will practice across a wide range of subject matter, including still life, landscape and the figure. Time will be spent on the different applications of watercolour: as a sketch medium, working plein air and for finished studio paintings.

Beginners are welcome as well as more experienced artists wanting to pursue projects of their own.

  • The difference between pigments and watercolour materials

  • The application of colour and colour washes

  • Wet-in-wet and glazing techniques

  • Descriptive mark making techniques

  • Composition and how best to put a watercolour together
