About

Tanya Baily is an award-winning Australian artist working exclusively in transparent watercolour and mostly on a large scale. She explores the diverse applications of watercolour in a painting context, where historically the medium has been underrepresented.

Drawn to the wildness and diversity of the Australian landscape, she spends time outdoors working en plein air and paints finished works in her studio in Sydney.

Tanya takes commissions for watercolour paintings, including Portraits and Architectural subjects.

Tanya exhibits in Sydney and internationally. She is a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.

Significant prizes include winner of FLOW National Watercolour Prize at Wollongong Art Gallery 2019 and winner of the Rex Irwin Prize for Mart COFA 2010.

Tanya teaches watercolour painting at the NAS and delivers workshops and classes at many distinguished art schools and societies. She also run private classes.

She was educated at Oxford university, Chelsea School of Art, and Completed a Master of Art at COFA in Sydney.
