Workshop: "The Landscape in Watercolour"

A week long workshop at the Sturt Centre in Mittagong in the Southern Highlands. This workshop offers an immersion into how to use watercolours to describe all aspects of the landscape. Beginners are welcome, and Tanya will guide and engage more experienced artists in expanding their skills.

The Landscape in Watercolour: textures and marks

This is an exiting and fast moving workshop of exercises designed to expand  knowledge and skill with watercolour painting. Students will concentrate on aspects of landscape, including skies, foliage and rocks, and practice a range of mark-making techniques to better express and render what they see. Students can expect to learn tips for palette organisation and colour composition, as well as using a balance of wet-in-wet and glazing techniques.

Students will finish the day having completed a series of small landscapes.

With its gentleness and vital luminosity, watercolour is made for portraying children. For those of you with some experience with watercolour paint, here is a chance to have a go. In this structured workshop, we will practice paint application techniques, colour choices and look at the facial anatomy of children. Bring a photo or two of someone you would like to paint.
